Care instructions
You have invested in a special piece of jewellery, and it deserves your loving
care to ensure its pristine condition and longevity. Your piece of jewellery may
have vintage components and/ or delicate materials which will appreciate your
tender loving care and handling.
To preserve the polish of your sterling silver jewellery, avoid exposure to
household cleaning products, bleach and other strong chemicals. To
prevent the natural tarnishing process, we recommend you store your
sterling silver jewellery in tarnish-resistant cloths or bags, which slow
down tarnishing. Keep your sterling silver jewellery in a cool, dry place and
separate from other jewellery which could cause scratches.
We recommend you clean your jewellery using polishing cloths that are
specially formulated for sterling silver jewellery.
Gold Jewellery
Gold-fill jewellery is different from gold-plated jewellery. Gold-fill has a
layer of gold pressure-bonded to quality jewellers’ brass and contains 5%
gold by weight (that’s 100x more gold than gold-plated!). When wearing
your gold-filled jewellery, avoid swimming pools and spas. Chlorinated
water (prolong contact with it) can ruin it. Do not exercise in your jewellery
- sweat has a lot of chemicals which can affect the longevity of your
jewellery. Put on your jewellery after you’ve applied any products
including moisturizers, perfumes, makeup, etc. To keep your pieces in the
best condition, simply wipe them at the end of the day with soft cloth.
Oxidised Patina Jewellery
It is important to remember that patina is a surface treatment.
To preserve your patina, it is necessary to clean your patinated jewellery
with care. Avoid harsh chemicals (like dip polish or silver paste cleaner),
silver polishing clothes, or abrasive cleaning methods including the baking
soda cleaning method). Use a soft cloth (not a silver polishing cloth
because it will remove the patina) to gently wipe body oils off.
Opals
Clean your opal jewellery regularly, but not too frequently. Gentle cleaning
with mild soap and water every few months is sufficient to maintain its
brilliance. Avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach, ammonia or chlorine to
clean your opal. These chemicals can damage the opal’s surface and cause
discoloration.
Its always best to put your jewellery on after your body lotions, perfumes
or hair spray.
